Heather's Homemade Bread
Ingredients for step 1:
2 cups lukewarm water (hot water will kill yeast)
2 TBSP yeast
1/2 cup sugar
Instructions:
1. Mix well. Let set for about 15mins or until bubbly.
2. This will test the yeast to see if it's "good", bad yeast will not bubble.
Ingredients for step 2:
2 eggs
1 TBSP salt
1/2 cup oil (I used canola oil)
6-8 cups flour
Instructions:
1. Add flour to take the "sticky" out of the mixture.
2. Let set for 45 min or more. You can let it set for as long as 2+hrs. The longer is sets, the lighter the bread.
3. Punch down and knead on a floured surface.
4. Divide into loaves and place in greased loaf pans.
Note:
You can also make hot rolls out of this recipe:
1. Instead of dividing into loaves, pinch off roll sized pieces of dough with thumb and forefinger, place 1/2 inch apart in a 9 X 13in pan.
2. Let raise 30mins and bake in 350 oven for 30 mins.
